DUBAI’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has rolled out a fresh direct metro service on the Red Line, giving thousands of daily riders smoother journeys during peak hours.

The newly launched connection links Centrepoint Station with Al Fardan Exchange Station, expanding options for passengers and helping to ease the morning and evening rush.

This addition complements the existing two direct routes from Centrepoint to Expo City Dubai and Centrepoint to Life Pharmacy Station. With three direct routes now in operation, the Red Line has become more adaptable to passenger needs, marking a significant step in Dubai Metro’s evolving network.

New Dubai Metro route

RTA said the new shorter route was introduced to reduce congestion, cut waiting times, and offer an easier commute for passengers travelling between some of the busiest stations.

The new route allows passengers to travel directly between Centrepoint and Al Fardan Exchange without switching trains. This comes after earlier enhancements, including the direct Centrepoint–Expo City route, which eliminated the need for a change at Jebel Ali Station. By alternating services between Expo City Dubai and UAE Exchange terminals, while also serving Life Pharmacy Station and Al Fardan Exchange Station directly, the metro now offers greater efficiency and coverage.

RTA has highlighted multiple benefits of the adjustments. These include reduced overcrowding on platforms, lower waiting times, improved operational efficiency, and even lowered energy consumption by cutting down total train kilometres. To ensure a smooth transition, additional staff were deployed to assist passengers and manage flow when the changes were first rolled out.

What passengers need to know

The shift began in August 2024 and has already produced noticeable improvements, according to RTA. The direct services have eased strain on the network during peak hours and provided commuters with more dependable options. Passengers are encouraged to check real-time station display screens before boarding to ensure they catch the correct train for their destination.
